These publications have been categorised into the core inspection disciplines å see categories to the left. SAFed provides its guidance documents to the inspection industry as best practice. All documents will have as a minimum been exposed to scrutiny by the HSE to ensure reliable and consistent advice. The documents are guidance only and have no legal standing whatsoever, unless referring to particular and relevant legislation. However, they do provide advice, which if followed, would normally be considered as satisfying the requirements of the general 'duty of care' in the safety of equipment. The complete range of British Standards Institution's publications can be ordered through SAFed. It includes 38,500 current, draft and historic British Standards, as well as an extensive range of handbooks, guides and kits (related standards which are sold as a package).
