June 2001
The Safety Assessment Federation
(SAFed) have appointed Peter Wilson as their new Technical Secretary.
Peter will be joining SAFed on the 4th June from the British Standards
Institution, where he was a Programme Manager.
Established in 1995, SAFed is the lead trade body for the independent
engineering inspection industry, which plays a key role in maintaining
high standards of safety in the workplace.
Peter is replacing Graham Lewis, who, after some 5 years service with
SAFed, retires at the end of June. As Technical Secretary, Peter will
be providing engineering support to SAFed's Technical Director, as
well as secretarial and project management services for SAFed's Technical
Committees and their associated Work Groups. Peter commented. "Where
appropriate, I hope to use the relevant knowledge and experience that
I have accrued throughout my previous appointments to inject some
new ideas and disciplines into the operation of the Technical Committees."
Peter has gained a wide range of experience from over 20 years service
in the Royal Marines and also a number of quality assurance related
civilian positions. During his time at the BSI, Peter developed effective
working relationships with senior industry and government representatives
in the UK, Europe and internationally. He also had a role in assisting
with the implementation of standards in support of European Directives
and international requirements. Richard Morgan, SAFed's Technical
Director, commented. "Peter will be bringing extensive and comprehensive
technical secretarial skills to SAFed, and I'm sure he will be a marvellous
asset to the Federation".
