SAFed works in consultation with the Department for Trade and Industry, the Health & Safety Executive, the European Commission through CEOC and a number of non-governmental organisations dealing with standards and health and safety such as the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), British Standards Institute (BSI), the Trade Association Forum and industry trade associations.

SAFed member companies are involved across all sectors of industry including manufacturing, construction, offshore, quarries, petrochemical, communications, food and drink, warehouse and distribution, travel and leisure.

SAFed is concerned with the agreement and interpretation of legislation together with provision of guidance for best industry practice. As such SAFed is proactively engaged in a number of initiatives beneficial to workplace safety. Updated information on these activities will appear here shortly as new work is introduced.
